Local and national nonprofits and community groups are now able to post requests for pro bono PR assistance or volunteer  PR positions to PRSA Tampa Bay as a way to connect with local PR practitioners.

To submit a request, please submit a request to Jobs@PRSATampaBay.org with the organization's name, location, mission, scope of  PR services requested, timeline, website link and all relevant contact details. Brief, bulleted format preferred. Received submissions will take one week to post on the website. Posts will remain on the site for 30 days, unless the organization requests an extension.

Organization: Tampa Bay Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Mission: To find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in l970 by parents to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Since l970, JDRF has funded more than $1.4 billion dollars in research.
Scope: The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is seeking volunteers to serve on the Chapter's Communications Committee. The Communications Committee is responsible for generating awareness of Chapter events.

My Hope Chest Seeks Pro Bono PR Assistance

Organization: My Hope Chest, a non-profit organization funding Reconstruction for breast cancer survivors
Location: Seminole, Fla.
Mission: For the past seven years, My Hope Chest has helped uninsured women with breast reconstruction, which is the final step in breast cancer treatment. Apparently there are a 100 women on the waitlist from 22 states and 20 from Florida.
Scope: My Hope Chest was selected by the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce which represents 13 coastal communities in Pinellas County as a community project. The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce has committed to three fundraisers - August, September and October - and event-related promotion is requested. The PR wish list and areas of most need include:
  • Blogging –Twitter and Facebook (http://www/casues.com/myhopechest)
  • Magazine and TV coverage in time for October Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Help writing a newsletter that can be continued
  • Tweaks and programming help with new website http://www.crissia.com/mhc/
  • Manage leads and contacts Alisa has and is making, communicate with them
Timeline: Help for one year would be ideal, but any project support would be appreciated.
