Join our panel of communicators and CSR/community champions for an eye-opening discussion on best practices and the important role PR professionals play in shaping and sharing a company’s story of social responsibility.

You will hear examples of:

  • CSR strategies for strengthening brands and social impact
  • Communications challenges and opportunities related to CSR
  • Specific communications initiatives for engaging stakeholders – employees, customers, investors and the community
  • Ideas for enhancing an existing CSR program or starting one

Brian West
Publix
Media and Community Relations Manager

Brian West is a third-generation citizen and life-long resident of Plant City, FL.  He is a graduate of Plant City High School and Florida Southern College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.

Brian began his career with Publix Super Markets in 1991, working in the Deli Kitchen – their deli manufacturing facility. After serving in several different roles in both production and support, he was promoted to the Human Resources Department where he spent almost 10 years as an Associate Relations Specialist. He is currently the media and community relations manager covering 17 counties in central and southwest Florida.

Brian has been actively involved in the community for more than 20 years, currently serving as board member for the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, board member for the East Hillsborough Law Enforcement Appreciation Association, executive board member for Gerald McCoy’s Patricia Diane Foundation, and associate director for the Florida Strawberry Festival. He has also served as past zone chair and president for the Plant City Lions Club, board member emeritus for the United Food Bank of Plant City, board member for V.I.S.T.E. (Volunteers in Service to the Elderly), and past chair for the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce.


Bobby Eagle

Director, External Communications

Bobby Eagle, APR, is external communications director at Tech Data, a Fortune 88 company based in Clearwater, where he is responsible for leading strategic direction and management of global public relations, executive communications, community relations, crisis communications and social media strategy. Prior to joining Tech Data, Bobby served more than a decade at mobile technology company Syniverse leading global internal and external communications. A Silver Anvil winner, Bobby has a diverse public relations background that includes experience with a minor league hockey team and a public relations agency.

He is currently the treasurer for the PRSA Sunshine district and has been an active member of PRSA Tampa Bay since 2007, serving in a variety of leadership roles, including president. On a national level, Bobby also serves as an annual judge for the Silver Anvils. Bobby attended the University of Florida, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in public relations and was selected to participate in PRSSA’s national Bateman Public Relations Case Study Competition. He also has been recognized as an “Up and Comer” by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Meet our moderator:

Kecia Carroll

CSR Strategist

Kecia Carroll is a communications strategist with a career divided between in-house leadership and consulting roles. She has worked with dozens of organizations -- from startups to Fortune 500 companies, professional service firms and social enterprises -- helping them build their businesses and their brands. In her role as a senior advisor, Kecia advises companies on effective ways to integrate corporate social responsibility into their overall business strategy for positive impact to the bottom line and the communities in which they do business. Additionally, Kecia serves as an advisor to the Edyth Bush Institute at Rollins College where she established the corporate citizenship department designed to raise awareness for and engagement in corporate social responsibility and its benefits to companies, the nonprofit sector and the community.

Kecia has published a CSR best practices whitepaper where she analyzed insights from 10 companies -- representing various industries and sizes -- in order to help more companies develop their own best practices, and is a frequent speaker on the topic of CSR.

Currently based in Orlando, FL, she in the process of relocating to the Tampa Bay area and recently joined our PRSA Tampa Bay chapter.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by noon on Tuesday, June 18, will be accepted without penalty. Regarding cancellations made after that date, registrations paid in advance will not be refunded, and those who registered but did not pay will be invoiced the full registration amount.
