Hot, Hot, Hot! St. Pete’s Brand is on Fire. A Transformed PR Team Keeps It Strong.

Twenty years ago, St. Petersburg was considered a sleepy little town nestled between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico's white-sand beaches. But by 2016, Huffington Post proclaimed that St. Pete was becoming “America’s Hottest City.” While St. Pete’s booming construction, art galleries and world-class museums, sidewalk cafes, coffee shops, entrepreneurism, diversity and much more get plenty of attention, behind the scenes the city transformed its marketing communications function, moving from a traditional municipal approach to an agency model with a premium on being nimble, creative and proactive. Our February program will feature Nina Mahmoudi, the city’s marketing director, along with Logan Smith, the city’s marketing manager; and Michael Flanagan, the city’s video production supervisor. Together, they will share insights on the team’s role in using communications to leverage and build St. Pete’s brand and reputation locally and nationally. To top it off, the program will be held at the highly acclaimed Armature Works, the massive food hall, entertainment space and public market just north of downtown Tampa on the Hillsborough River.   

Lunch will be provided. The menu will be grilled chicken and shrimp over a bed of lettuce with tomato vinaigrette, Italian pasta salad and fresh fruit medley.
