Today’s PR professional has more measurement tools than ever before, but what good are the data if you don’t have a focused plan to quantify it and correlate it to business objectives? In this engaging session presented by the
Tampa Bay PRSA Agency Leaders, nationally recognized measurement speaker Shonali Burke examines what “good” and “bad” measurement is, explains how to create sound measurable objectives (and why this is critical to the success of your plan), and how to incorporate analytics into your daily work (even if you’re “not a math person”).

Join PRSA Tampa Bay on Wednesday, August 12, from 7:30-9:00 am as we explore Smart PR Measurement in the Digital Age.

In this morning workshop, you will:

  • Learn the basics of good PR measurement, as well as the 7 Deadly Sins of Bad Measurement

  • Learn how to incorporate online analytics into your PR measurement (yes, it can be done!)

  • Understand how to make the right kinds of correlations between your communication efforts and your organization’s business objectives

About the presenter:

Shonali Burk

Shonali Burke is the *IABC-accredited, award-winning president & CEO of Shonali Burke Consulting, Inc., where she uses her signature blend of measurable social PR to take your business communications from corporate codswallop to community cool™.

Her career to date has seen Shonali launch landmark entertainment events, including with Cirque du Soleil and Russell Simmons; lead communications for the ASPCA, including through the 2007 pet food recall and Michael Vick case; and give refugees a voice both online and off via USA for UNHCR’s Blue Key campaign. Rutgers University, Cision, Oxfam America, and John Jay Online are just some of the brands who’ve trusted Shonali’s firm with their names.

In 2007,
PRWeek recognized Shonali as one of the "top 40 under 40" PR professionals in the US. She was featured at TEDxAdamsMorganWomen in December 2012, and called one of 10 CEOs to follow on Twitter by the Washington Business Journal in 2013. In 2015, the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Association of Women in Communication named Shonali the recipient of the Matrix Award for significant accomplishments and consistent excellence in communication.

Shonali is adjunct faculty at The Johns Hopkins University’s M.A. Communication
program, as well as an instructor at Rutgers University. In 2010, she founded #measurePR, the first hashtag and Twitter chat dedicated to public relations measurement. Waxing UnLyrical, the community blog Shonali launched in 2009, is frequently cited as a top destination for PR and marketing professionals.

An avid fan of cricket and cooking, Shonali unabashedly delights in the music of ABBA, which bemuses her three rescue dogs, Chuck, Suzy Q. and Lola, and amuses her husband John. They all, however, defend her right to remain an Elvis fan long after he left the building.
