Professional Development Day is PRSA Tampa Bay's annual half-day seminar, and one of our most popular events of the year, providing PR and marketing professionals with resources and best practices to advance as practitioners. It attracts 60-80 attendees from the Tampa Bay area and surrounding markets.

We have two different options for registration!

Full Seminar:
Registration and Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Program and Lunch: 8:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Lunch/Keynote Speaker Only:
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Keynote Speaker: 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Mike Flanagan, a partner with LDWWgroup since January 2013, has provided communications leadership for organizations ranging from a Silicon Valley healthcare startup and Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays to Fortune 500 companies in the airline, cruise, technology, telecommunications, video conferencing and gas and electric utility industries. Currently, he leads LDWW’s business for Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, working closely with chief communications officer to develop PR and promotion strategies and lead proactive media relations efforts. This includes building relationships and working on story opportunities with journalists from key media outlets; managing, collaborating, working and providing counsel on variety of issues, challenges and opportunities; and providing senior leadership for sensitive issues, crisis situations and special projects. 

Kimberly Bird, Director of Communications at Kforce

Hear from Kimberly Bird, director of communications at Kforce, at Professional Development Day November 13 on how she convinced the billion dollar staffing firm to add this engaging vehicle to her team's service offerings. 

Kimberly Bird is currently the Director of Communications at Kforce – a billion dollar staffing Firm with more than 60 offices and 10,000+ Consultants nationwide. After spending several years as a broadcast journalist at an NBC affiliate in Texas, and a short stint in Public Relations for an international oil company, Kimberly moved back to her hometown of Tampa, Florida to manage Communications at Kforce. She has since transformed the department into a dynamic team of individuals offering strategic communication plans using email marketing, video production, digital magazines, automated voicemail, and two intranets. Kimberly’s team won the 2015 AWC Clarion Award for Employee Relations Campaign as well as an Honorable Mention for Ragan’s 2012 Employee Communication Awards for Best Print HR Publication. Kimberly strives for a work/life balance so she can spend time with her husband and two daughters.

Ron Rice, Distinguished Toastmaster and Technical Consultant at Raymond James

Do you struggle with speaking in public? Are you looking to make your presentation more exciting? Is your audience walking away with the right information (or do they just walk away)? Join Raymond James' and Distinguished Toastmaster Ron Rice at Professional Development Day on November 13 to discover new ways for overcoming your fear of public speaking and developing characteristics of a memorable presentation. 

Ron Rice is employed by Raymond James Financial and has been a technical consultant for the Equity Capital Markets division, since 1996. Rice has also been a member of Toastmasters since 2006, serving in various Club and District Officer positions during his tenure. While serving Toastmasters International, in District 48 as the District Governor, he was responsible for overseeing the entire District, including over 6,000 members from New Port Richey to Naples, to include conferences, budget and placement of subordinate leaders throughout the District. A 14-year U.S. Army veteran, Ron Rice has been happily married for 30+ years, is a father of three and grandfather of three. 


Breakfast will consist of assorted pastries, coffee and tea. Lunch will consist of a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, rolls and dessert. Beverages will be served all day. Meals are included with the price of your ticket.

Looking to update your professional headshot? MamaRazzi Foto will be on site offering discounted headshots to anyone who may be interested. The cost is $25 for the headshot and includes the retouching of one image. Interested guests will pay the photographer directly at the event. Headshots will be offered on a first come, first serve basis from 7:30-9:30 a.m.


Online registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12. Price is $70 for the full day and $55 for the lunch only, for both members and non-members. On-site registration will close promptly at 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for the full-day and lunch programs, respectively. The only form of payment accepted at the door is a check made payable to PRSA Tampa Bay. No cash or credit cards please. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by noon on Wednesday, November 11, will be accepted without penalty. Regarding cancellations made after that date, registrations paid in advance will not be refunded, and those who registered but did not pay will be invoiced the full registration amount.
